began as a Vision on a Reiki Table
in a Wednesday Night Weekly
Reiki Circle
In the fall of 2008
Libi Kavanah was participating in a Wednesday Night Reiki Circle in Eugene, OR.
When it
was her turn to recieve Reiki, she was given a full vision of teaching
Reiki to church groups who would then go to hospital waiting rooms and
offer compassionate comfort.
In her vision,
Libi saw Reiki Tables set up in
hospital waiting rooms
with Reiki being offered to the
family members
and friends waiting there for their loved ones.
Libi was familiar with the stress of being in hospital waiting rooms. As an ICU volunteer for five years, Libi comforted families as they sat in the waiting room. Libi found that being Compassionately Present was the best gift she could give.
Libi,
had also spent many days and weeks in hospital waiting rooms
as she attended
the needs
of her
ill loved
ones.
Libi's vision inspired her to begin developing a
Volunteer Reiki Program for Hospital Waiting Rooms.
The First
Class for University Student Volunteers
was taught by Libi in the Spring of
2009
at the University of Santa
Cruz.
From this class, Libi saw that there was a need to teach volunteers what she called Compassionate Presence. Libi developed the Compassionate Presence part of the volunteer class that Spring.
Drawing on her knowledge of Grief, death and dying and her mediation skills as well as her own extensive volunteer experience,
Libi brought into her class
elements of self care,
deep emotional listening,
meditation in addition to Reiki.
"Reiki will always be the foundation for my program" States Libi.
"Reiki is such an easy relaxation technique that needs no words or explanations.
However, there are times in the Volunteer Experience that you need more tools in your tool bag.
Our Compassionate Presence Classes
teach these tools in addition to Reiki.
These classes are great even if you never Volunteer.
They are great life sustaining tools that can enhance your everyday life"
